Does Immediate Feedback Improve Survival from In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest

Pauses in chest compressions during resuscitation decrease coronary perfusion pressure and adversely affect the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Excessive compression pause time and hyperventilation together have the poten-tial to significantly decrease the patient’s chance of surviving sudden cardiac death. The aim of this study is to assess the quality of CPR by documenting the number and duration of pauses in chest compressions as well as compliance with AHA guidelines for ventilatory rates.
