The Rate of Completion of Bystander CPR Pre-Arrival Instructions Given by 911 Dispatchers
Survival from sudden cardiac arrest is determined in large part by whether or not the victim receives bystander CPR during the first critical minutes after collapse. The likelihood of neurologically intact survival for patients without bystander CPR is dismal despite other treatments administered later in the course of resuscitation. In this study, 9-1-1 calls will be reviewed to identify possible barriers to CPR associated with both “traditional” and “compression-only” CPR methods. This information will be used to develop new strategies for increasing bystander CPR, a critical link in the chain of survival. |
